RULES
AND REGULATIONS
1. Matches
will be played between various divisions of BIDA for the
President’s Cup, once every year.
2. All
matches will be played on limited over knock-out basis.
Each match will be played for 30 overs a side, 6 balls
per over. Each bowler will be allowed a maximum of 6
overs in the match.
3. In case
of bad weather or delay in the start of the match due to
unavoidable circumstances, the number of overs for each
side may be reduced by mutual agreement between rival
captains. If due to weather, the second side is unable
to finish their quota of overs, then the number of runs
scored by the second side in the number of completed
overs played will be compared with the same figures
played by the first side and the match result decided
accordingly.
4. The side
scoring most runs will be the obvious winner. In the
case where both sides score the same number of runs, the
side losing the least number of wickets will be the
winner. In the case where both sides score the same
number of runs and also lose the same number of wickets,
the side scoring the runs in the least overs will be the
winner. In the case of the match being abandoned due to
adverse weather conditions, the outcome will be decided
by the toss of a coin between the two captains
supervised by the umpires. The same ruling will apply
even when one side has completed their innings and the
other side is unable to bat at all.
5. The BIDA
Division that is willing to host a match will be
expected to provide lunch and refreshments for the
players and their families who come to spectate and
additional BIDA members may also be present as
spectators/supporters.
6. Visiting
Divisions are expected to provide a cup or trophy which
will be awarded to the “Man of the Match” which will be
decided between the two captains and the umpires.
7. The
venue and date for the finals will be fixed well in
advance by the Cricket Sub-Committee and the
participating finalists will be informed by the National
Sports Co-ordinator.
8. Umpires
for the matches will be expected to be mature, aware of
the basic rules of the game and above all be neutral –
preferably one from each side or appointed by the
Cricket Sub-Committee.
9. The
winners of the President’s Cup will receive the trophy
at the AGM each year.
10. The
Divisional Chairmen and Secretaries of the participating
teams are expected to be present (either as players or
spectators) at the matches.
