1.
Can BIDA arrange Clinical
attachments for International Medical Graduates?
Unfortunately BIDA does not have enough
personnel or resources nationally to arrange
clinical attachments. Having stated that, often
the Divisional Chairs and Secretaries do try and
assist a number of International Medical
Graduates to get Clinical Attachments.
2.
Can BIDA find jobs for
National Medical Graduates?
BIDA is unable to find any
jobs, but is aware that there are effective
Divisional Chairs and Secretaries that once
again try and assist them, but there is no way
that BIDA can find any jobs for International
Medical Graduates.
3.
Can BIDA get involved in
resolving partnership disputes?
BIDA does not like to get
involved in any partnership disputes of General
Practitioners.
A) Because we have not got the necessary
resources; and
B) We have not got the necessary expertise and
often we do think that principally it is wrong
for an organisation to get involved in what is a
personal and practice related problem.
4.
Does BIDA hold meetings for
non-members?
A number of Divisions do
invite non-members once or twice a year to some
open meetings. The open meetings are two-fold.
One is to give a flavour of the divisional
activities and secondly is to recruit new
members.
5.
Do BIDA meetings allow
non-clinical members to attend?
As most of the meetings are
sponsored by Pharmaceutical companies, BIDA does
not usually allow non-clinical spouses to attend
the meetings. But there are exceptions, for
example when they hold the Annual Dinner and
other activities, non-members' spouses are
welcome to attend.
6.
How often do the divisions
hold meetings?
The activities of divisions do
vary from division to division. Some meet on a
regular basis, throughout the year; some only
meet on a few occasions (open to all members),
but the divisions do have more regular Executive
Committee Meetings.
7.
Do the BIDA divisions have
autonomy?
They are quite autonomous, as
long as they adhere to the National principles
of BIDA. BIDA local divisions often get
consulted with various reorganisations etc. They
do give their opinion without making any
reference to the national EC.
8.
How often does BIDA hold
elections?
We hold elections every 3
years for national officers as well as
divisional officers. The elections are conducted
by the Electoral Reforms Society to fair play.
